AI for the people,
by the people.

Socialist AI is a movement to make artificial intelligence a public good — championing free, open-source models from every corner of the world, so the most powerful technology in history stays in the hands of all of us.

The mission

Intelligence is a commons — it belongs to everyone.

01

Open by default

We promote models whose weights, code and research are published for everyone to inspect, run and improve — not locked behind corporate walls.

02

Access as a right

Intelligence shouldn’t be a subscription tier. We work toward a world where anyone, anywhere, can use world-class AI at zero cost.

03

Global by design

No single nation or company should own the future. We spotlight open models from every continent, in every language, for every community.

What we stand for

Four principles,
no compromises.

Every project we back, every model we promote and every line of code we write answers to the same four tests. This is what “AI for all” means in practice.

01

Open weights, open books

If a model shapes public life, the public should be able to read it. We champion models that publish their weights, training methods and limitations.

02

No gatekeepers

Access to intelligence should never depend on your income, your passport or your postcode. Free tiers aren’t charity — access is a right.

03

Privacy by default

Open models can run on your own hardware, under your own control. Your data stays yours — no harvesting, no surveillance, no fine print.

04

Governed by community

We believe the direction of AI should be decided by the many, not the few — through open research, public debate and democratic oversight.

“The means of prediction belong in the hands of the many — not locked in the data centers of the few.”

— The Socialist AI Manifesto, Article One

Get involved

The revolution is open source. Join it.

Build with open models

Pick an open model, run it locally or in the cloud, and ship something the commons can be proud of.

Share your compute

Host community inference, contribute to open datasets, or help translate models into new languages.

Spread the word

Teach a workshop, write about open AI, or simply show a friend that world-class AI can be free.
